Time to celebrate inspiring women in gastroenterology. Read a statement from Cisca Wijmenga, UEG Research Prize Winner in 2018:

"I am extremely proud of the women in my group that show so much passion for research, play important roles in advancing our knowledge and that dare to dive into new research directions. I try to encourage them to step out of their comfort zone but also to give them the necessary support to make their way into science. It is great to see that we have a diverse team and a good balance of males and females with 50% of our senior staff/professors being females. My personal tips for young females are to take the risk to do something new, believe in yourself and do not give up! And find the right environment to work where you are given the freedom to pursue your scientific dreams.”
