Joost PH Drenth, a Dutch gastroenterologist from the Radboudumc, Nijmegen has taken the responsibility and will serve as the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal beginning 2019. He is looking for 4 associate editors that will help, as a team, to shape the future of the UEG Journal.
UEG Journal is an international forum for research in gastroenterology, publishing original articles which describe basic research, translational and clinical studies of interest to gastroenterologists and researchers in related fields. UEG Journal is published 10 times per year and disseminates innovative and decisive science that can withstand scrutiny and this is reflected in the impact factor of the Journal that rose to 3.44 in 2018.
The areas of interest of associate editors cover gastrointestinal and liver disease, biliopancreatic disease, gastrointestinal endoscopy, digestive oncology, gastrointestinal surgery, and pediatric gastroenterology amongst others. The task of the Associate Editor will be to assist in identifying the best papers possible by selecting qualified, independent and experienced reviewers to review the submitted manuscripts. Potential Associate Editors need to make sound and even-handed decisions, open to many points of view, and they need to select or reject material only on the basis of merit.
They should have experience in publishing and peer reviewing and written and verbal ability in English should be excellent. The key success factor of the job is the quick turnaround time (i.e. quick with e-mails). A good network of colleagues contributes to the success of the job.
