Congress venue

The Austria Center Vienna (ACV) is Austria's largest conference centre in the international heart of Vienna. Located right next door to the Vienna International Centre, it regularly hosts UN World conferences, and has welcomed more than five million visitors since its opening in 1987.

How to get to the venue

From the airport to the city

There are a number of ways to travel into the city from Vienna International Airport. We ask all of our visitors to think of the environment and use public transport wherever possible:

  • City Airport Train CAT
    16 minutes to Landstrasse/Wien Mitte station
    Frequency: every 30 minutes
  • Rail S-bahn commuter railway (S7)
    25 minutes to Landstrasse / Wien Mitte station
    Frequency: every 30 minutes during the day
  • Bus airport shuttle
    Direct service to the Austria Center Vienna: 30 minutes (stop: Wien Kaisermühlen/VIC)
    City centre: 17–45 minutes (other stops: Schwedenplatz, Wien Meidling, Wien Westbahnhof)
    Frequency: every 30-60 minutes during the day 

From train stations to the city

  • Vienna Hauptbahnhof (main station, formerly Südbahnhof) 
    Vienna’s main station is one of the most advanced in Europe.
    Public transport link: U1 station Hauptbahnhof/Südtiroler Platz
  • Station Vienna Meidling
    Public transport link: U6 station Bahnhof Meidling
  • Westbahnhof
    Public transport link: U3 and U6 station Westbahnhof

Vienna Subway system
The city has five different underground lines. The U1 takes you from Stephansplatz to Kaisermühlen VIC and the Austria Center Vienna is just a few minutes’ walk from the station.

Letter of invitation

The UEG Week registration partner will be pleased to send a formal letter of invitation to any individual requesting one. It is understood that such an invitation is intended to help potential delegates to raise funds or to obtain a visa. This does not imply a commitment from UEG to provide any financial support. Invitation letters can be requested in the online registration process (more to follow). The letters will be sent as email attachment. If an express delivery is required, the delegate shall order a courier at his/her own expense.


The entry formalities for Austria vary according to the country of origin. For citizens from the European Economic Area (EU including Norway, Island) a valid identity card is sufficient. Visitors from other European Union member countries require a valid passport.

Congress language
The official language of UEG Week is English.

Payments will only be accepted in Euro.

Time Zone
The time zone in Austria is Central European Time (CET), which is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) +1 hour in winter and +2 hours in summer.

In October the average temperatures range from 7 to 14° C during the day in Vienna.

The voltage in Austria is 230 Volts, 50 Hertz. Sockets meet European regulations and use the two-round pin system.

Is there a kindergarten at UEG Week?
Regrettably UEG will not offer a kindergarten this year.
